Working Safeguard Properties

The only national that publishes what it declined, which makes it the best portal in the industry for learning what a winning bid looks like. Exacting standards, and worth meeting.

Getting a bid approved

  1. 01

They tell you when a bid is approved, and when it is cut

Approval is written into a dedicated block on the document rather than left for you to infer from whatever invoice turns up later. Where an amount has been reduced they say so in plain language. That makes Safeguard the best portal on which to measure your own bid performance honestly.

  2. 02

    Debris approvals run low here

Across several hundred interior and exterior debris bids on our book, approvals ran in low single figures across every price band and every style of write-up. That reflects how the programme is set up rather than anything about the bid. Every damage still has to be reported, so it still gets bid — we simply set the expectation honestly up front.

  3. 03

Restated bids are a free lesson

Safeguard publishes a restated table showing work it declined or repriced. Almost no other national gives you that. It is the closest thing to a direct feedback loop this industry has, and we read it on every account we run.

Submitting and invoicing

  1. 01

One document can carry several approval blocks

A single work order can approve multiple bids in sequence. Reading only the first block loses the rest — we found approvals being silently dropped on hundreds of documents that way, which understates what a vendor actually won.

  2. 02

Some documents arrive as vector artwork

A share of Safeguard PDFs are drawn as outlines rather than set as text. They look completely normal on screen but cannot be searched or copied, which is why they sometimes appear blank in vendors' own systems. We read them optically, so nothing is missed.

  3. 03

The photo standard is the highest on this list

More required angles, and identification has to be established before condition. A set that passes elsewhere can still be returned here, so we build to their standard from the start.

Getting paid

  1. 01

    Decisions come back explicitly

A stated decision is something you can act on, which makes tracking what you won here far more reliable than on portals where it has to be inferred.

In practice

Safeguard rewards discipline. Because they publish their decisions, a vendor here can measure and improve bid writing in a way that is difficult almost everywhere else. We use that feedback on every Safeguard account we run.
